Accessory Buyer

Scandinavian Designs is looking for an Accessory Buyer which will be located at our Petaluma CA Headquarters.

This position will act as the company’s Accessories Buyer, while leading efforts to synthesize product offerings and attain inventory turnover objectives. This newly created position will work closely with our Head Buyer, General Manager, Store Managers and President to strategically increase the sales of fashionable accessories that provide value added offerings for our customers; and execute inventory turnover strategies to maximize cash-flow. All of our positions are expected to uphold our standards of value, quality and design

Develop and implement an accessories action plan congruent with our marketing strategy and founder’s vision. Provide on-site and virtual training to store managers and sales staff related to articulating the value proposition of the accessories we offer, and implementing suggestive selling techniques to boost accessory turnover.  Conduct on-going Product Life-Cycle analysis for products in our inventory. Develop and maintain productive relationships with accessory manufacturers.  Execute seamless communication between our buying, logistics and retail teams.  Develop and implement an inventory turnover strategy that achieves organizational goals. Execute and place containers orders with manufacturers. Set and achieve goals related to inventory management, damage reduction, and accessory sales in cooperation with the Head Buyer and President.  Use advanced mathematical techniques and computer analysis for demand forecasting and strategic decision making.  Evaluate existing in-house technology related to buying and inventory management, and counsel IT on corrective actions.  This position has a strong implact on the loook and style of the company which makes it important to take all existing and new products into consideration.

 

Requirements:

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Design, Management, Communications or related concentration preferred  5 years (minimum) of accessories buying experience within the retail furniture and/or home décor industry.  Must possess a passion for contemporary designs and continuous process Improvement. One must be equally comfortable with both the creative and analytical aspects of the retail furniture business. Strong analytical skills and creative abilities, especially as they pertain to contemporary designs.  Excellent communication skills are essential for this. The ability to lead-by-example, and follow through with initiatives is required to succeed in this position. Strong negociating skills needed. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and other office software. Our top candidates will be required to present their portfolios with prior work
