Accounting and Finance Manager

Scandinavian Designs is premier furniture and home décor retailer and we are looking for a Finance and Accounting Manager which will be located at our Petaluma CA Headquarters. This highly visible position plays a leading role in transforming and overseeing our finance and accounting process and executing our organizational strategies.  This position will provide innovative financial and accounting solutions and work with our Controller, President and our present CPA. This position works to ensure the financial integrity and sustainability or our organization as we reach our organizational objectives.  All of our positions are expected to uphold our standards of value, quality and design.

The successful candidate will possess a proven record of performing and overseeing CPA generalist responsibilities (i.e. managerial accounting) as well as the ability to perform advanced financial analysis. This is a newly created position ideal for a transformational leader willing to engage in both accounting and finance.

The management and accounting aspects of the position include managing and retaining a talented and motivated staff and evaluating and improving our accounting management systems.  This position will oversee multiple business units, perform budgeting, forecasting and analyses and provide recommendations for improvements.   This position is responsible for various month-end deliverables and serves as part of the fiduciary committee for the 401(k) savings plan.  This position will manage the leases and fixed assets and property insurance.

This position will be responsible to providing financial leadership that includes advance analysis, ROI reporting and capital budgeting.  They will also factor the effects of international currency on the firm’s strategy, work to improve inventory management and oversee the business and property tax management and reporting. This position reports to the President and must maintain the strictest professionalism, confidentiality and keep all company records secure.

 

Requirements:

Qualified candidates will have a BA in Accounting or related field and graduate degree in Finance (or MBA with emphasis in Finance) with ten years (minimum) relevant experience. C.P.A. in good standing preferred.  Knowledge of accounting, legal, regulatory and taxation issues associated with retail environments is needed as well as the  ability to perform advanced financial projections, identify and seize opportunities to improve the performance of current assets (e.g. inventory).  Experience in the review, edit and execution of legal documents and contracts required. Superior Excel skills and experience with Microsoft office Suite a must. Significant retail and real estate experience is desired, Furniture industry experience is a plus. An advanced understanding of tax issues, especially as they pertain to real estate holdings and retail organizations. Understanding of ERP systems in a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this position.  An “Intraprenerial Spirit” with the ability to lead-by-example and follow through with initiatives is a must. Domestic travel may be required.
